Really Really Really Really Short Stories
Move over flash fiction. Micro fiction is the new alternative to the alternative to the short story. A Grateful Town by Sean McLain Brown is a complete story in less than 250 words. Here is an excerpt:
“The newswoman tells us to bring our recyclables to the nearest grocery store, all proceeds will go to help buy injured soldiers an all-expense paid vacation to Disneyworld. The newswoman says the soldiers’ new prosthetics are hardly noticeable. We marvel at the wonders of medical science.”
You can find this story, as well as other micro fiction and poetry, at the web magazine, Rumble. They describe micro fiction as “flashier flash fiction, a shorter short short.”
