The Nymphos of Rocky Flats

Have you been searching for a book about an Iraqui veteran vampire private eye?  Or how about one involving extraterrestrials and nymphomaniacs?  Of course you have.  And now you can have both for the price of one.

Mario Acevedo’s award-winning book, The Nymphos of Rocky Flats,  is his debut novel.  The Faster Than The World blog had this to say about it:

“The book reads like a 20’s era detective novel set in a modern time with a supernatural twist. There is a dame, only she isn’t the one directly involved in the origination of the storyline, the gangsters appear in the form of Federal employees, and did I mention the vampires?”

Shari Caudron, author of the Who Are You People blog, recently asked Acevedo why he thinks the vampire genre is so popular.  His reply:

“Vampires are popular because they are metaphors for creatures who can rise above the banality of modern life. Vampires don’t care about credit scores or retirement plans. Plus they always manage to look great in whatever they throw on. Zombies, on the other hand, looks like they sleep in dumpsters.”

According to his publisher’s website, Acevedo “has worked as a military helicopter pilot, engineer, and art teacher.”  From here you can also view his website and his scheduled event dates.
