Eclipse

Eclipse is the third and latest in a series of young adult vampire novels by Stephenie Meyer (the first two being Twilight and New Moon).  I see a lot of amazon.com books with high ratings but only 5 reviews or so, which you can pretty much tell are the author’s friends.  Eclipse, on the other hand, has a high rating and 400+ reviews, and it just came out two months ago.  That’s a good sign.  Here’s the book description:

“As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob—knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?”

If you’re wavering over whether or not you’d like to get this book, you can read the first chapter at Meyers’ website.  For more information, read an article about Stephenie Meyers at seattlepi.com, read a book review at theorangechair, or read tifaaeris’ blog entry about being in love with the “fictional and fabulous” Edward.  Check out the author’s calendar, too.  It looks like she will be in Dublin on October 12 and Toronto on November 2, 2007.  I’ve heard she draws HUGE crowds, so get there early.
